Why Make the Switch?

  • 🌿

    Less Plastic, Same Service

Compostable containers, straws and trays hold up to real foodservice use, including hot foods and drinks, depending on the product.

  • 📈

    A Visible Commitment

Customers see your packaging. Plant-based and paper items show your sustainability commitment at every order.

  • ✅

    Stay Ahead of Plastic Rules

Many cities and states restrict single-use plastics. Switching early keeps you ahead of changing requirements.

Your 4-Step Checklist

A simple path to getting started, with our team ready to help at every step.

  1. List your single-use items

Count every container, cup, lid, straw, utensil and bag you use each month, and note which hold hot, cold or greasy foods.

  2. Choose the right material

Match each item to a material: PLA plant-based plastics, molded fiber and paperboard, or paper. Check heat ratings for hot foods.

  3. Check your waste options

Compostable items break down best in commercial composting. Find out what your local waste hauler accepts so packaging ends up in the right place.

  4. Phase in and label clearly

Switch item by item, use up existing stock, and add simple bin signs so staff and customers dispose of packaging correctly.

Frequently Asked Questions

What's the difference between compostable and biodegradable?

Compostable items meet standards for breaking down in composting conditions, usually commercial facilities. Biodegradable is a broader term for materials that break down over time.

Can compostable containers hold hot food?

Many can. Heat ratings vary by material and product, so check the product page or ask our team before switching hot-food items.

Do I need commercial composting?

Compostable packaging breaks down best in commercial composting. If it isn't available locally, these products still reduce the use of petroleum-based plastic.

Are paper bags really better than plastic?

Paper bags are recyclable, made from a renewable resource, and Duro Bag® options are made in America with no PFAS added.

Can I order samples?

Yes. Request samples to test fit, sturdiness and heat performance with your menu.
