Moisture Control for Shipping, Storage & Freshness
Moisture is one of the most common causes of damaged goods. Temperature swings during shipping can cause condensation inside containers and cartons, leading to mold, rust, odors and rejected shipments.
- Micro-Pak®
- Desiccare™
- Integra Boost®

Natural clay desiccants from Micro-Pak® and Desiccare™ absorb excess moisture, and come in biodegradable kraft paper instead of plastic-based packets. For products that need a precise humidity level, Integra Boost® 2-way packs add or remove moisture as needed.
Why Make the Switch?
-
🌿
Protect Goods in Transit
Desiccants help prevent condensation damage, mold and corrosion on long ocean, rail and truck journeys.
-
📈
Plastic-Free Packets
Kraft paper packets replace the plastic-based materials used for many silica gel desiccants, so customers receive less plastic.
-
✅
Precise Humidity Where It Matters
2-way humidity control keeps sensitive products in a target humidity range rather than simply drying them out.
Your 4-Step Checklist
A simple path to getting started, with our team ready to help at every step.
-
Identify your moisture risk
Look at what you ship or store, how long it travels, and the climates and temperature swings along the way.
-
Choose 1-way or 2-way control
Use clay desiccants to remove moisture from packaged goods, or 2-way humidity packs when products must stay at a set humidity.
-
Size the packets
Match packet size and quantity to the volume of each carton or container. Our team can help you calculate it.
-
Test, then roll out
Run a trial shipment, inspect the results, then standardize packets across all outbound orders.

- Desiccant unitA standardized measure of how much moisture a desiccant can absorb, used to size packets for a given package volume.
- Relative humidity (RH)The amount of moisture in the air compared with the maximum it can hold at that temperature. Many goods need RH kept within a set range.
- 1-way vs. 2-way control1-way desiccants only absorb moisture. 2-way humidity packs absorb or release moisture to hold a target RH.
- Container rainCondensation that forms inside shipping containers when temperatures drop, a common cause of cargo damage.
Frequently Asked Questions
How many desiccant packets do I need?
It depends on package volume, the product and the transit conditions. ECO MDS can help you size packets and plan a test shipment.
Is clay as effective as silica gel?
Natural clay is a proven desiccant for packaged goods, and Micro-Pak® and Desiccare™ packets use kraft paper instead of plastic-based materials.
When should I use 2-way humidity control?
Use it when products must stay at a specific humidity, neither too dry nor too damp, to protect quality and freshness.
Can desiccants go in direct contact with products?
Always check the product page and your industry requirements. Our team can recommend options for your application.
Can I get samples?
Yes. Request samples to test in your own packaging.
